The Women & Science Program is an initiative of The Wistar Institute that highlights the fundamental role played by basic and clinical research in addressing the scientific challenges related to women’s health. The program features contributions made by women scientists to biomedical research and raises funds to promote their work.

Wistar recognizes the Lenni-Lenape people as the original stewards of the lands on which we now stand.

Dr. Maria Elena Bottazzi is the Associate Dean in the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Bottazzi, along with her partner Dr. Peter Hotez, were nominated for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize for their work to develop and distribute COVID-19 vaccines to people around the world.
